Vice President of Medical Affairs
We represent two Massachusetts-area community hospitals which are currently seeking candidates for their respective Vice President of Medical Affairs (VPMA) role. These exceptional opportunities report directly to the parent health system CMO and the hospital presidents. The VPMAs are responsible for the quality/risk management, infection control, and the case management departments at the hospital. The VPMAs provides vital liaison functions to the medical staff and its leadership, serving as a resource in credentialing, reappointment, peer review, and quality improvement.
This role collaborates with the president of the medical staff, department chairs, and the medical executive committee to create a participative and effective medical staff organization. It also interfaces with the board of directors, president, senior management team, and medical staff leadership on matters of medical care, medical staff affairs, patient safety, quality, liability risk, and case management.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate is an experienced leader with a demonstrated track record of establishing programs to improve the quality and standard of care. A passion for performance and process improvement, and its link to quality and cost outcomes, is essential. Strong business insight and financial skills are also needed.
A medical degree with board certification is required, along with significant clinical practice experience. A Certified Physician Executive (CPE) is desirable and prior experience within an acute care community hospital setting is necessary.
